I briefly came across this guy on my travels and couldn't resist asking him if I could take a photo of him. He turned out to be an amasingly friendly guy with with such a loving and warm presence about him. I don't know much about him apart that he's from Sweden and he's got a really cool beard!
When completed the authorities of Rome decreed that the cross on the top of St. Peter's Basilica should remain as the highest point of the city. 385 years later the 135m high dome not only remains predominant on the Roman skyline but also offers visitors the best view of the city. Look closely at the pic and you can see the sightseers.
A nice thing about countries many centuries older than ours are their traditions . . . You'll find in many regional areas of Italy whenever a special celebration or community event takes place you can be pretty sure the traditional dress, music and festivities come out!
